Brixton’s favourite Crafty Fox Market is back at the Dogstar on 24th & 25th March with a weekend event full of handmade treats. Each day will see an eclectic mix of over 40 designer-makers transforming the Dogstar into an exciting showcase of local creativity including us!.
Look out for handmade lingerie from Love Baby Grand, Manolo’s illustrated jewellery and vintage clothing from Blonde Fox. Jimbobart, the talented illustrator and creator of the Crafty Fox artwork, will also be there with his illustrated plates, alongside lots of other stalls. New and exciting talent at purse-friendly prices!
Visitors can take part in a range of workshops, relax in the tearoom or visit the nail art booth by Boom Nails. You can even make your own Crafty Fox with the Seaside Sisters, screen print a shopping bag with Mr Wingate, write letters with Letter Lounge, or settle in a cosy corner for a knit and a natter. There’s a busy programme of activities over the weekend with local DJ’s providing the soundtrack.
Niall (30) from Peckham commented, “I love the Crafty Fox Market – every item has a story and it’s great to be able to talk directly to the makers.”
It’s free entry and children are welcome – there’s even a dedicated parking area for buggies. The first 50 through the doors on each day will receive a Crafty Fox CD or an illustrated tea towel courtesy of Etsy.com. Visitors can also vote for their favourite stall and be in with the chance to win goodies from moo.com.

I grew up with Burberry being the ultimate brand in chic, elegance and history. My granny, the chicest lady I ever knew, had a Burberry raincoat. Now it’s a cool and edgy fashion house, too.
~ Rachel Weisz
The timelessness of the designs of Burberry, Aquascutum and Barkers have resulted in them remaining desired and held in prestige the fashion world over for absolute yonks.
From the classic Parka coat, through to the Burberry Mac and the tassled loafer. We love British heritage classics.
This post is dedicated to all the boyfriends, brothers and husbands who are dragged along to our vintage fairs.
Burberry & Aquascutum Mac’s - £70-£100
Aquascutum Bag - £45
Barker Shoes (size 6) - £35
Mens Parka jacket - £70
You dont have to go much further than your local highstreet you realise that the highstreet is awash with scarf print inspired items.
The trend was undoubtedly re-sparked by the Versace for H&M collection and through Lady Gaga’s recent outings donned head to toe in vintage Versace, however, for me, the easiest way to embrace this look is with vintage scarves.
Eddie and Mabel have some lovely ones, and are cheap at around £7 each, depending on size.
I like to wear mine in my hair, however, the options are endless. I did once see a girl wear hers as a top in Malia, however, unless you are Jodie Marsh i wouldnt say this is the best option
So i went to see the wonderful Maccabees last week with my friend Rachel and it got me thinking about Tour t-shirts.
Seeing all the cheap tat that was being sold after the gig in the name of rock and roll made me realise how difficult it is for a band or artist to go from cool to cult status.
With her forthcoming album, MDNA on the horizon, there is only one madonna and in my opinon she fulfils the latter catagory (although sometimes i wish she would lay off the embarrasing mum dancing).
“I’m tough, I’m ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay.”
― Madonna
Fortuntaly for Eddie and Mabel, we have recieved a wonderful batch of original ‘Girlie Tour T-Shirts’. For £35 you can secure a piece of musical memorabilia history (thats if i dont keep them for myself).
The white one with the M shape on the front is my fave and so easy to wear, we will definatly bring them along to the new fair we sell at .
Girlie Tour Original Tees - £35
Mother of Pearl Guitar Brooch - £25
Today i saw the most perfect, care free, top knot and my hair envy became the better of me.
Some people get jealous over designer labels, others over peoples bods - me? its all about the hair.
Fraud would probably argue that its something to do with some trauma in my childhood (possibly true, i certainly took a few visits to the barbers with my dad), and others would probably just say that i need to take more time and patience over my appearance, again probably true. Anyway, it got me thinking about holiday hair (see my last post and yes, im still talking about it) and the yearly trauma which is ‘care free, summer hair’. Yuck. Im sure its just a marketing ploy to get us to spend our hard earned on trying to tame our locks in the face the disaster that is a chlorine and sun sandwich, anywho, it doesnt stop me from trying.
That being said, ive found a few pics for inspiration, for whist i certainly love vintage clothing, for me, and
for a modern take on vintage looks, its all about dressed down hair. Least of all because im quite lazy and i’d rather be sleeping.
16….15…..14…days till i go on Holiday!!!
can you guess where??? In prep for my mission to become the girl from ipanema i have mainly been raiding the Eddie and Mabel archives for tropical floral prints and bold colours (as well as Sister Eddies most recent purchases from KG). I found a few beauties here, the long maxi dress inparticular will most definately be squeezed into the bottom of my backpack.
Now, to find my carnival outfit….
